Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for seizing opportunities and maintaining relationships from start to finish. You can easily adjust your negotiation style and communication according to your client or supplier and their cultural background. That’s how you create a real favor factor! This is your challenge as a trader:

  • Expand your business with existing and new products in your area.
  • Maintain intensive telephone and personal contacts with your suppliers. To do this, you will spend about 4-5 weeks a year traveling and visiting important trade shows or exhibitions.
  • Stay ‘on top’ of market changes and development to keep ahead of the supply and demand game. Both in terms of buying and selling.
  • Initiating and realizing new sales channels By developing new product-market combinations.
  • Close deals with a results-oriented attitude, in collaboration with your colleagues from purchasing, sales and logistics.

As a trader “RED MEAT,” you possess:

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience, in Economics, Business Administration, International Business or other relevant educations.
  • You have 3 to 8 years of experience as sales manager, account manager, export manager or trader (preferably in the food industry). Preferably gained in the food industry. In any case, your product knowledge is beyond dispute.
  • You have an excellent command of the English language (speaking and writing). Speaking multiple relevant languages as French, Spanish, Dutch, or Mandarin is an advantage.

Trader/ Sales Manager Europe

This is your challenge as Trader/ Sales Manager Europe:

As a trader Europe you are responsible for the sale of meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and/or dairy products to existing and new customers, such as wholesalers, distributors, cash-and-carries and catering in the Europe sales area.


You will be engaged in:

  • Relationship management and expanding sales with existing and new products with customers.
  • Maintain intensive telephone and personal contacts with your customers. For this you travel about 4 to 5 weeks per year and visit important trade fairs.
  • Keeping abreast of developments in the market. Both in terms of purchasing and sales.
  • Developing new sales channels. You do this by developing new product-market combinations, among other things.

This is why we are looking for you:

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience, for example gained through a commercial or business education.
  • You are entrepreneurial, commercial and decisive.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages, both oral and written. Speaking additional languages will certainly come in handy.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Up to about 5 years of experience as a trader, account manager, sales manager. Experience with food is a plus.

Traineeship Trader

We are traders at heart. We trade meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and dairy products. Since 1974, we have been buying them directly from producers worldwide and selling to importers and wholesalers in more than 100 countries. The market finds us sharp but reliable. From the headquarters in Dordrecht, the global markets are worked on by the team of traders with a good mix of young and experienced people. We also have purchasing and sales offices in Germany and England.

Trader at Kühne + Heitz 

The world is your trading ground. As a trader, you are largely independently responsible for securing contracts worldwide. You are an entrepreneur within Kühne + Heitz and an important link in a game of negotiation around buying and selling. With your up to date knowledge of developments in the market, utilizing price differences and exchange rate changes, you know how to make the best deals at the right time. In doing so, intensive cooperation with your colleagues and good internal and external communication is a must. Our team of buying and selling traders jointly strive to maximize returns on a weekly basis.

A trader feels at his best in a hectic environment. Trading mainly consists of negotiating (by phone), sometimes with several parties at the same time. Quick switching, perfect numerical insight and an unerring sense of market opportunities is therefore essential. A good dose of assertiveness and self-confidence will additionally serve you well within the organization. The trading team is supported by a professional logistics team, which takes care of the operational handling of the contracts. As a trader, however, you remain responsible for the proper handling of your case.

Traineeship 

Become familiar with all aspects of business in an international organization on the job and through courses. Your goal is to develop into an independent trader within 12 months and serve your own market in import, procurement or sales/export. Learn the ins and outs of sourcing specific products/product groups and selling the range in our global sales territories. Walk with us in our in-house logistics department to learn about the handling of contracts, shipments and related rules and documentation. Get acquainted with generating new leads and expanding a (potential) market.

You will initially work closely with experienced colleagues in starting your own accounts and developing a strong network within your own sales territory or product group. You will quickly be given the responsibility to do your own business. For this you contact and visit customers at home and abroad. You know how to quickly expand your portfolio and eventually close successful deals independently.

What do we ask of our Trainee?

  • A completed HBO or WO degree, in commercial or business administration;
    0 to 1 year of work experience;
  • You are entrepreneurial, commercial and decisive;
  • An excellent command of the Dutch and English languages both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in an additional (trade) language is a plus;
  • Strong analytical and communication skills;
  • A good dose of determination, common sense and stress resistance;
  • A hands-on mentality: you see opportunities (market potential) and know how to exploit them; You are ready for an international career in a fast-paced world.
